Sports Fans

With year-round sunshine and warm temperatures, Florida is a fabulous home base for sports fans of all types whether they enjoy professional or collegiate competition. We boast 10 major league teams in all five national sports, including NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL and MLS. And of course NASCAR’s most famous race, the Daytona 500, owes its name to its native city, Daytona Beach.

What’s more, every year, millions of baseball fans flock here to take in spring training for no fewer than 13 MLB teams from throughout the country. From the Atlanta Braves, who practice at Walt Disney World, to the Baltimore Orioles in Sarasota and the New York Yankees in Tampa, every March, baseball fans follow their favorite teams to Florida. If you love baseball, Florida is the perfect place to call home.

Our most popular pro sports teams in the central and southwest regions are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who play at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, the Orlando Magic at the Amway Center in Orlando, the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg and the brand-new MLS team, Orlando City Soccer Club, whose designated stadium, Orlando City Stadium, is soon slated for completion.

Whether you prefer the hard-hitting energy of the NFL, the leisurely pace of MLB games, or the intense rivalries among college alums, it is endlessly exciting to be a devoted sports fan in Florida.
