7 Central Florida Mini Adventures for the New Year

2018 has arrived and lists, to-dos and proverbial buckets are all waiting to be checked off and filled. But, let’s add a dash of adventure into the mix, shall we? Here are seven ideas for fun that I like to call “mini adventures” because they don’t require too much planning or time. We truly have a variety of things to explore here in Central Florida.

Go Glamping at Westgate River Ranch

I like spending time outdoors camping and star gazing, but when it’s time to go to sleep I need a bed. A real bed. And electricity. Glamorous camping (glamping) has been on my mind for a long time, and I’m hoping to try it out this year. The cooler weather now makes it a good time to “glamp.” Also Florida and Georgia residents receive a 20% discount at Westgate before March 8, 2018!

How about a Hockey Game?

I’ll admit, I’m nowhere close to being a die-hard sports fan. But I do like hockey, and tickets are very affordable compared to some other sporting events in our area. See schedules of upcoming games at OrlandoSolarBearsHockey.com and the Tampa Bay Lightning website.

Savor a Central Florida Food Tour

Experience a Ghost Tour

It’s not October, but these tours are fun anytime, especially in the cooler weather. I also enjoy the local history that is woven into the tours. Click the links for details.

Am I the only person who didn’t know Publix offers cooking classes? Well now that I know, I’m excited to check this out. Here in Central Florida we are very lucky to have several of  Publix’s Apron Cooking Schools between Orlando and Sarasota.

Try a Fancy Marshmallow at Wondermade Sanford

Artisan marshmallows are being made right in our back yard at Wondermade Sanford. Bourbon, champagne and sugar cookie are just a few of the flavors. Day trip to Sanford, anyone?

Hike the Cruickshank Trail at Black Point Wildlife Drive

Black Point is one of my most favorite places in all of Florida. I’ve done the wildlife drive many times, but have not explored the Cruickshank Trail much. Now that the bugs are less pesky and it’s cooler, completing this hike is on my list. Learn more about beautiful Black Point and plan a visit >> here.

This area is home to one of the most renowned birding festivals in the US, read about the upcoming 2018 event here.
