Disney’s Fort Wilderness and Campgrounds Resort

The campground resorts at Disney’s Fort Wilderness is just one more reason to love Orlando! If you love the outdoors – whether it’s ‘roughing it” in a traditional tent, setting up in your RV or “glamping” in a cabin all the while having the magic and comforts of Disney, then Fort Wilderness should be on your bucket list (on repeat, wink!).

We celebrated America’s birthday this year with family and friends at the campgrounds. Decked out in red, white and blue at every turn – cabins, tent, RVs and golf carts alike were in it to win it!

Our cabin was a perfect home away from home with its full kitchen and living area with a pullout sleeper sofa. The bedroom came with a full-size bed and a set of bunk beds with one bathroom. All in all, the cabin is able to sleep up to 6 people comfortably.

There are two pools at the campground, but you don’t want to miss the Meadow Swimming Pool. It’s a hit because of the huge water slide, the kiddie splash pad with slides and water squirts. A snack bar is nearby with hotdogs, pizza and more for lunch! If you prefer to bring your own picnic there’s plenty of picnic tables and benches to choose from close to the pool, ,  or choose from several other great dining options on site.

To wind down the night you can make s’mores by a bonfire while singing along to American frontier music. Costumed characters Chip n’ Dale also join the festivities of the campfire sing along, and photo-ops are encouraged.

Since our visit was over the Fourth of July weekend we enjoyed an extra special firework show, but you can enjoy a Magic Kingdom fireworks show anytime at Fort Wilderness down by the Fort Marina beach. Kick back on one of the beach chairs with a blanket and enjoy the music and fireworks starting around 9pm.

Other things to do at Fort Wilderness include canoeing, kayaking, fishing and the Fort Wilderness archery experience. And rides galore! I mean pony rides, wagon rides and holiday sleigh rides! In true Disney style, there’s definitely not a shortage of recreational things to do, see and experience.

Will Disney’s Fort Wilderness make it onto your bucket list? Let me know in the comments below.
